Enduro 2001, hosted by the Leighton Buzzard Model Boat Club at Bletchley Park took place on 9/10 June 2001. Free tea or coffee throughout the 24 hours was available together with a BBQ.
This event was a 24 Hour Model Boating Marathon to raise money for charity while having fun model boating. Six teams had electric powered model boats and all were still running on completion of the 24 hours.
Our team of four nominated members are Martin Coldwell, Charles Darley, John Mallichan and David Powell. We also had two helpers Trevor Bodiam and Chris Powell who were wonderful back up to the team.

The money raised in sponsorship will split equally between Bletchley Park, MacMillan Nurses and Willen Hospice, a local charity for Leighton Buzzard.
The event was only marred by several very heavy down pours of rain but all the craft kept running. During the night the generator ran out of fuel and had a down time of about 15 minutes. The boats kept on sailing under their navigation lights.
The happy crew have the second obligatory "Team" photos prior to the start. Thanks to Trevor for all the photos taken on his "new" digital camera.
The event started at 2.pm on the Saturday. David holds the craft ready for the off.
The skipper of the team was first to take control. We did not plan a scheme of drivers / scorers but let it happen. Charles and Martin took on night shift and then John and David took over for the early morning shift. In retrospect this was a bad decision as we all had very disturbed sleep patterns.
