Half Beam Engine

Nigel Taylor

A single 2BA bolt fixing with a large washer made from mild steel.

This gives me some freedom to rotate the fixing slightly and to get it aligned and running correctly during final assembly.

I made small brass inserts out of 4mm diameter bar and 10mm long.

I drilled and tapped these and then super glued them into the wooden frame.

Part 1 - initial layout and main frame

Part 2 - the bearing blocks take shape

Part 3 - the wall bracket for the beam

If you have made a similar engine and would like to share your experience we would love to hear from you - ed.
