A 2 cylinder engine configuration with the cylinders arranged around the crankshaft such that when you look along the line of the crankshaft they form a "V".
A fine example of the Les Chenery designed V-twin. Les Chenery designed a number of model engines.
This particular engine is a 15cc four-stroke with overhead valves. Also, note that this is a 90° V - the character of the engine changes with the angle of the V and the configuration of the crank.
A solenoid v-twin with a single crank pin and a 45° angle between the two cylinders.
The building of this engine is described in our gallery pages - Solenoid V-twin.
