I wanted to be able to measure the force generated by the solenoid on one of my engines and after much thought came up with a scheme to use a set of electronic scales with some pulleys and a weight.
So started looking for some scales, lots out there and you can just go and buy some kitchen scales. However, wanted something a bit more sensitive than that and so ended up searching the internet. Came across these: myweigh.com - 440Z.

just to give you an idea of the size of these scales, the box measures: 105 x 75 x 33mm.

The scales can easily be switched between grams, ounces, troy ounces and pennyweight.

With a good old fashioned 2oz brass weight on them.
Price: approx $20.00 from RightOnScales.com. I ended up paying an extra £12 customs duty when it arrived.
If you are buying scales in the UK then worth looking at: e-scales.co.uk
Compact set of digital scales. The auto shut-off is a tad too quick for me and this is an annoying aspect. Otherwise, well made and just right for what I want.
Must admit though that having paid extra for the postage and then having suffered paying again for the customs I would buy them from the UK next time: e-scales.co.uk - have not tried this sompany to see if their service is any good so some feedback from anybody who has would be great.
