Normally I use a standard handheld die holder and push this against the bar to be threaded with the tailstock and then start to cut the thread. This can be very hit and miss, but normally this works well.
So the idea of £33 for a purpose made die holder made me wonder about value.
The main leading photo shows the die holder in use in my Warco WM240b
The force on the handle is quite high and I ended up having to put the chuck key into the chuck to get leverage and stop it moving – however, this was quite a substantial 3/8″ BSW thread and so not surprising.
The result is a fantastic thread that has not wobbled and is very clean.
