Belfast Model Flying Club

Carrying on the pioneering work of the Ulster Model Aircraft Club before and during WW2, the Club was formed in 1945, developed rapidly in the enormous surge of enthusiasm for Aviation following the War. The main activity was Free Flight, by far the dominant form of flying at that time. This continued throughout the War, and the Irish Nationals were held at Baldonnell, with the prizes presented by Eamon de Valera. Harry Daulman featured prominently in these events and was a founder member of the Club. The clubs emphasis is now “control line” at our purpose built flying circle at Tommy Patton Park, Holywood Road, Belfast 5. The site is suitable for RC helicopter and small RC flying models.

A friendly non affiliated club, located on an old world war 2 airbase just east of Cambridge, we are unrestricted with what and when we fly as we have no inhabited buildings close by. Bristol Society of Model & Experimental Engs

The Bristol Society of Model and Experimental Engineers (BSMEE) exists to promote the development of the wider Model Engineering hobby by providing support and encouragement to interested people to construct and operate models of an engineering nature. The Bristol Society was founded in 1909 and is one of the oldest in the country. It currently has some 250 members who between them cover many trades, professions and backgrounds. Many of the successful modellers have not had any formal engineering training, but have been encouraged and supported by fellow members to develop their interest. Many of the skills required to undertake Model Engineering can be self taught but, by belonging to a society or club there is always help and knowledge freely available. Cambridge Model Aircraft Club

Cambridge Model Aircraft Club (CMAC) was formed in the 1940s, has been an active club ever since and is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association (BMFA). A stalwart hardcore meet at the airfield on Saturdays and Sundays, weather permitting, to enjoy the art of flying model aircraft of various types. At present the club caters for all sizes and types of radio control flying models including: Fixed wing aircraft (both I.C. and electric powered), jets and gliders (which can be either conventional thermal lift {bungee launch} or with built-in short run motors). Unfortunately the area is not bumpy enough to accommodate slope soarers. Rotary wing models (helicopters) are also flown. The club is always pleased to welcome new members, both able bodied and disabled, experienced pilots and novices, to their ranks. The more experienced members are pleased to help the novices in the art of model flying.

Luton & District Model Boat Club

The Club was originally formed as a scale model boat club. We now, however, cater for modelling of all types, not just for boats. There is a high level of interest in scale and non scale sail. South Midlands Soaring Association

The South Midlands Soaring Association (SMSA) is a club for radio control model glider pilots. The majority of the activities for the club are slope soaring, and silent flight. We fly a large range of models including scale models, fully moulded aerobatic models, EPP and built up balsa thermal soarers. Our flying sites are at the Burton Dassett Hills Country Park and Sun Rising Hill, Warwickshire. The Club is affiliated to the British Model Flying Association.

St Neots Model Flying club

The club averages an annual membership of approx 80 and has 2 flying sites for use by the members with a third, dedicated heli site on the way for 2007. The sites have no abnormal flying times restrictions imposed on them and are kept in very good order by a dedicated group of volunteer grass cutters during the summer months. The club holds competitions and events throughout the year, these tend to be low key, fun events without too much serious competition. The Scale competition, although held on an in club basis is possibly the exception to this in that the standard of models presented can be very high. Recently we have been holding a number of Spad Combat events.

Wealden Model Aircraft Society - Wealden Flyers
