Clamping Kit

milling clamping kit

With any milling machine a set of clamps is a must first buy, a clamping kit has a selection of T-nuts, bars and studs.

My clamping set is screwed to the wall behind the milling machine. Keeps the workbench clear and easy to access.

This is one of the generic cheap 52 piece sets from China. I′ve been using this set for around a year and very pleased.

The T-nuts are strong and have not been any trouble – I′ve had some cheap ones that have cracked within a very short time.

The set could do with some shorter studs – I ended up making my own from some 10mm bolts and have cut the heads off, filed and cleaned the thread with a die.

Price: approx £40 for this set.

Sometimes you need to make specialist T-nuts and clamps – for the rotary table I made some long T-nuts to extend the usable diameter of the table.

There are a number of different ways to hold or clamp a workpiece – see our page on workholding.
